Oh BiBi Teams Up with Rovio on Angry Birds Rush – A Fresh Twist for the Classic Franchise

French mobile game studio Oh BiBi has joined forces with Rovio Entertainment to bring us Angry Birds Rush, the latest chapter in one of the most famous mobile game series.

The game went into soft launch last year (starting around late August/early September 2025 in the US on iOS and Android), mixing the familiar slingshot launches that Angry Birds fans know so well with runner-style gameplay. Picture this: you fire your birds, they bounce and zoom through levels, dodging obstacles and collecting stuff along the way. It’s got that endless-runner feel, with elements inspired by hits like Subway Surfers, plus some light raiding mechanics where you can sling birds into other players’ setups to mess with their flocks.

What makes this one stand out is that it’s the franchise’s first real dip into the luck battler genre – think strategic elements mixed with a bit of chance, while still keeping the core Angry Birds DNA intact.

Oh BiBi has been working on the project for a while now, and they’re approaching it with a lot of respect for the longtime fans. In one of their posts, the team put it plainly: “Our goal is simple (and ambitious): to make the best Angry Birds game ever. The bar is incredibly high – we know – which is why we’re building it with the fans, every step of the way.”

They’re clearly aiming to strike a balance – delivering something new and bold without losing what made the original games so addictive.

Oh BiBi isn’t new to big projects. Founded back in 2012 in Paris, the studio focuses on accessible, fast-paced action games that work great on mobile and even consoles. Their biggest hit so far is FRAG Pro Shooter, which has blown past 150 million installs worldwide and keeps growing with more than 130 different playable heroes to collect and battle with. Plenty of their other titles have pulled in millions of downloads, too.

Right now, they’re also deep into another high-profile collab: working with PlayStation Studios and Insomniac Games on Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a real-time multiplayer mobile game that’s currently in its own soft launch phase.

Landing the Angry Birds Rush gig adds another major licensed title to their list, and it fits right into Rovio’s bigger plan to keep expanding the Angry Birds brand. They’re pushing into new gameplay styles and getting back into key markets – like their recent partnership with Kingsoft Shiyou to bring Angry Birds games back to mainland China in a big way.

For now, Angry Birds Rush is still in testing mode (mostly US players can jump in via the App Store or Google Play), so the developers are gathering feedback to polish things up. If you’re in a supported region, it’s worth giving it a try to see how this mash-up of slingshots and running chaos plays out.

Exciting times ahead for Angry Birds fans – this could be a fun evolution for the flock.
